I’ve been pulling at a few different threads the past week, and trying to get some things finished. I’ve got tables booked at four fairs this year so far, and I’d like to adopt a more professional attitude towards them.
I love selling at illustration and comics fairs - they’re always fun socially, and seeing everyone else’s work and enthusiasm for these kinds of art is inspiring. BUT money-wise they’re usually a bust for me, and I’ve decided this needs to change. I’m going to plan more tactically for them - lunch is for wimps, and coffee is for closers!
With this in mind I’ve been working up some icon-type images… imagining things on tote bags or t-shirts. I’d love to combine images and my sewing hobby somehow. I’m trying on an old-school Americana-type theme… I think I need to focus on the horses to get that across.
But I found a seller on Etsy who turns pictures into iron-on decals, and I am very happy with my first attempt!! DECALS ON EVERYYYTTTHING!!!
This week I also made a couple of drawings of Captain Haddock. Speaking a while back about fancying fictional characters, I’m sorry to have left Haddock out of the picture, as he is, I assume, everyone’s favourite bearded seafaring alcoholic! Although his attitude to sex always seemed pretty ambivalent… Here he is being menaced by different fauna, I’m not sure why - although as @iuc0unu wrote in the instagram comments, Haddock knows what he’s done.
Billions of blistering blue barnacles!!! Until soon!
