Excellent analysis Tor - I guess it’s all about the chewing. Once the mouth is too big to chew it’s going to be a slower process for the victim, with a lot more time for rumination, ironically.

Nice to see Tremors get a mention too - I’ve always felt Fred Ward was an underrated actor… but then he didn’t help himself by choosing Henry and June, I guess…that was a stinker.

I loved this. Phylis! I also have an early memory of a pet shop with monkeys in the suburban West London area. I was thrilled by this when very small and it's obviously horrifying to think of now!

MAW of this please x

Well, now I’m terrified of Jewel Wasps! I’d never heard of them before but now I’m wondering how long before they move from beetles to me in my sleep 😳

Lots of something small is much scarier than a big thing with teeth! I’ve never recovered from seeing Swarm when I was too young!

I remember that Richmond pet shop! I used to love looking in there (but never got bitten). Also best historic Richmond shops Craftsmith and Tridias… just a 65 bus ride and 50 years away ❤️

Wait, no. I’ve thought about it this more than I really should’ve but it must be worse to be eaten by something enormous like a pleisiosaur (sp?) for example (let’s forget the T rex, too corny). Because you would be slightly bitten and then ingested and then it would be a matter of being dissolved in stomach acid. Hopefully the suffocation would get you first. But surely it would be quicker to be eaten by a polar bear. I might be biased since my comic often has a theme of polar bears eating humans. Which is awful, of course, except in a comic. When it is well worth it to meet the deadline.

I’m writing this on Anzac Day which is a public holiday here. I give myself public holidays now even though I’m self employed. So forgive me as I’ve had a couple of glasses of bubbles. I’m not sure whether this is acceptable either as Anzac Day is a day for commemorating war veterans.

But I’m a pacifist.

Cheers!

Spoiler alert ‼️ but great shiver inducing reading about being dog food: Mariana Enriquez Our Lady of the Quarry.

A useless suggestion: bite back?

Another useless and nasty thoughts: tick-bites, and they never let go arghhhh. And toddler bites, brother bites…

What about love bites? (good old days…)

Thanks Tor for opening a nightmare inducing can of worms.

Have a great week folks! X

Of all these things with big toothy maws, the Meg has scared me most of all. (And I love sharks!) I've been bitten by a squirrel when I was offering it a peanut. I guess he was looking for some insurance that I'd drop the peanut, rather than having to play cute animal and take it from my hand. I respect that.

So many strong points in this newsletter. My most feared animal (currently) is the american bully XXL (don't @ me, I've heard all the claims about what sweethearts they are). It's hard to imagine death by sandworm being worse than death by dog.

Lolololol. I LOVE that family comic. The bare stomach! Your poor sister! I feel so crass saying this but are you aware of the film 'Teeth' (2007) ? Would like to see the Vagina Dentata on the scary scale. X

Absolutely love this, and I’m a big fan of the graph, adds the scientific pizzazz (I had no idea this is how you spell pizzazz. What a discovery)
