Going through old work recently I re-read a comic that I drew up during the first months of the pandemic. It’s pretty unfinished, and silly of course, but I thought I would share it here, as there are parts of it I think are working. It’s called “The Turn of the Shrew” - pun on Henry James’s Victorian country house ghost story, The Turn of the Screw. I tried rereading the novel during the pandemic, remembering I’d loved it twenty years ago, and found it entirely florid and impenetrable. Also, did I make a whole comic about a shrew just so I could use the pun? I can’t remember, but MAYBE.
So, quite a direct copy of The Picture of Dorian Grey and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, with a shrew and a duck. I got as far as a couple of colour pictures too…
Hey ho, there it is! And if you got this far, thank you for reading!
"Gulls gulls gulls"! I loved everything about it.
I love this. Amazing. Would love a whole series of these based on different classic works of literature!
