Also: I’m so envious of how clean and decisive your roughs are! I guess it just comes from being well-practiced? You mentioned somewhere else how you decided to stick with a way of working that made it easier to concentrate on the storytelling and write more stories. More sage advice. Thanks!!!
Thanks Kevin! They are, but of course that has often meant A LOT of time spent on drawings for a story that I'll realise too late doesn't go anywhere. I have tried to use stick figures/scripts but I haven't yet been able to write that way - I need to see them fairly finished to work out what will happen next. So I guess this is the fastest way I've found so far!
I really like the “unfinished” quality of the first colour page too. Do you ever look back at your roughs and like them better sometimes? I’m trying to leave things unfinished lately. I’m starting to think it can also be a way to leave space for a reader to enter, in a different way than “show don’t tell”. Maybe “half-show”? There must be an artist who has written about that somewhere. Do you know?
Thanks so much Kevin! I like my roughs better often, and it's funny you say that as I'm going through the same process - of going back a stage, and seeing what that looks like.
When you say unfinished, how do you know which bits to leave? That's SUCH an interesting idea, and I don't know of anyone who's written about it, but I'd love to!
Hahaha! Wow, the ending is ... well, unexpected! :) I love it! The theme is familiar, as you say, but the way you've rendered it so dense and athmospheric.. Wonderful!
"Gulls gulls gulls"! I loved everything about it.
Thank you Heather! I made a gif of the "gulls" ages ago, will try and find it!
I love this. Amazing. Would love a whole series of these based on different classic works of literature!
Thank you! And that would be very dreamy!!
"An oldie but weirdie..." I race to get some tea and blanket and settle in! :) What a ride!
😂 thank you!
hah! love it
Tor - I LOVE THIS!! And it genuinely made me lol, no, guffaw at the end!!! Brill! X

Eggshellent storytelling 🥚😦
Haha thank you!🐣
Someone has asked me what I’m giggling at….three times!!!!! Any plans to finish it?? Hope so!
Thanks Lucy, that's good to hear!! I'm thinking if I'm less precious about mixing animals and humans I could put it in my gothic anthology plan!
