The comic below is based on a) me liking to draw myself with Tintin characters, but also b) on a wonderful prompt from Fionn McCabe’s website and Substack. He has written and drawn lots of inspiring exercises, and this one is called Seeking Answers from Animals. I found Fionn’s work a couple of months ago, and have really been enjoying his posts - I recommend giving his lovely and thoughtful work a read!
My Haddock went more and more off-model as I went on. And I’m not sure my drawings of me are ever ON-model.
Also, doesn’t “juicy bone” make you think of John Hannah reading Stop All the Clocks in Four Weddings and a Funeral?
Also also, I made both these comics when I was hormonal. This week I’m NOT hormonal and everything is FINE and Captain Haddock better not bring any of this up next time I see him.
Amazing amazing.....definitely here for any Tintin crossovers. Know what you mean about the no booze. Generally good, occasional pang (is this a shipping forecast Captain?!). Walked past my barbers the other evening, he'd just closed up, standing outside the shop in the golden setting sun having a ciggie. BIG smokey smokey shiny lager pang. Generally don't miss it, just takes certain things to align (including hormones!) and wallop. It was that END OF THE DAY thing i think.
What a brilliant exercise, love it. And I must say Haddock is ageing extremely well, and seems to have mellowed too - I don't remember him being known as a particularly good listener in the books :)
