A metre of my Toile de Jaws fabric arrived!! O, joyous Tuesday!
This was a proof of concept really, as I plan to make some more vignettes for the pattern - and it’s been suggested I should show the actual shark, though I’m not sure that’s in the spirit of the film?
Anyway, this is on canvas linen from Spoonflower, and is a totally impractical project as I don’t see how I could make it work financially, so I’ll probably make a tote bag and call it a day. And then use the tote bag, and try and call people’s attention to it incessantly. I will be much like a shark myself, cruising the streets on the hunt for my prey, which is praise for my tote bag.
I’ve had two events over the last month. The first, up in Macclesfield, was my favourite comics festival, MACC POW! This is organised by Marc and Betty Jackson, and this year was the 10th anniversary!
It was also the debut of the second issue of GOOF magazine, which is a kids’ anthology comic magazine produced by Marc and Betty, with lots of one-page gag comics.
There are comics by artists including Marc, Jim Medway, Lew Stringer, Eliza Kinkz and many more! Mine revisits Tarzan the teen…
It’s a great comic magazine, and can be purchased from Shelf Editions. And do come to MACC POW next year - it’s a grand day out!
Then last Saturday I tabled at the biannual Illustrators’ Fair in Kings Cross. I shared tables with friends (from left to right below) Ruby Wright, Ella Beech, Emma Farrarons, Lisa Stickley and Sharon King-Chai.
It was a hot day, but lovely as always. Michael and Holly who organise the fair always do a wonderful job and each time it seems to me there are more and more super illustrators there, and more things I end up buying. If you’re interested in visiting or applying, you can follow their instagram for updates.
Thanks for reading!
oh god I want that tote bag, and bed sheet and pillow- yes a pillow! and a blindfold!
Love the fabric! I’m ready to compliment the tote bag via voice note so you can endlessly re listen.
