Hello dear end-of-yearers! I greet you on the last day of 2024, no longer a young person tyrannised by the pressure to go out and party. Instead, I am Old Man 2023, heading to beddyboes and letting New Kid ‘24 take over.
Just kidding! I’m only 46! I’m a vibrant son-of-a-gun. But I AM having an early night. Although first we’re watching Death on the Nile with Peter Ustinov, my second-favourite Hercule - after Suchet but before Finney. I haven’t seen Branagh at it, and although I don’t have a Branagh allergy (Branallergy), I feel like he might rank below Ustinov but still above Finney (too antic for me).
**Now, you multifarious Branagh-haters out there, in the spirit of the New Year, let’s shake paws, let bygones by bygones, agree to disagree on our favourite/least favourite Shakespearean, and part for the evening as friends.**
I went to see Priscilla last night, and enjoyed it much more than I’d expected. The 60s were my least favourite era for fashion, and Priscilla’s hair was at moments truly bonkers and closer to God than I’m sure he found comfortable, but I did love the look of the whole film. Imagine smoking over your wedding cake!
Good night dear friends, see you next year. x
Happy New Year!!!!
HNY Tor!! I definitely have a Branallergy! Haha! Pah to Brannagh! But I do want to see the Venice one for some reason! Xx
