A warning for those who haven’t seen the 1942 film Now, Voyager - the below comic is a nonstop spoiler.
Between our currently overwrought sensibilities there is very little we can watch in this house at the moment. We turned off Wallace and Gromit on Christmas Day (“too scary”) and The Sound of Music on Boxing Day (excessive floods of tears). But I went to see Conclave at the cinema and absolutely loved it - so much pageantry, fun and loud nose-breathing!
The title for Now, Voyager comes from a two-line Walt Whitman poem, The Untold Want, that feels quite appropriate for the start of a new year…
The untold want by life and land ne’er granted,
Now voyager sail thou forth to seek and find.
Happy new year, friends! Here’s to 2025 and all who sail in her.
LOVE this. LOVE Conclave (the umbrellas! the smoking! the DRAMAAAA). Happy New Year!
Watched Now, Voyager this is evening. Gawd bless, iplayer. Read your comic right after. Perfect. Happy New Year!
