I had an eye test last week, and now need bifocals/reading glasses. I am putting off actually getting some - they’re such a big decision - something you wear every day that is part of your face! But being my preferred distance from my drawing paper is getting blurry, so I’ll have to bite the bullet soon.
In the meantime I’ve been drawing bits and pieces, ladies and people riding various animals!
And some harpies - my friend said this morning that I’ve “entered my perverse nudes stage” - I really think I have, and I’m not planning to leave any time soon!
Redoing the comic I posted here last time about my dad’s spy preoccupation has made me want to revisit some other comics I made about Dad. He died in 2014 at the age of 99 and 10 months, and since that time I’ve made a few stories about him. He was very private, and wouldn’t have liked me doing them while he was around - plus his presence made it harder to see him clearly.
Here is one of the first I drew, about the slim knowledge I have of Dad’s childhood.
My dad as a lad
Oh, Tor this one might be favourite yet!! I didn't really know why I'd need to ever use the 'save' function on Substack but I absolutely need to be able to re-visit this page. Thanks for sharing your dad and Chilly Billy with us. Xx
Oh Lordy, you got me with the chilliest of billies...😭
