Hello, fellow Decemberamblers. I’ve been listening to episodes of Katy Hessel’s “The Great Women Artists” podcast. I began with the one about Leonora Carrington, my favourite artist. (There’s a nice documentary about her on BBC iPlayer at the moment, for those with access.)
There’s a comic I’d like to make about an Edwardian-to-1930s child, who’d be a blend of my dad, smoking cigarettes aged 4, and Leonora Carrington, stifled by and stretching out from her constricted English upbringing.
Also I’ve been comfort re-reading Georgette Heyer, so my head is full of sentences like “fie, my lord” and “I implore you, don’t talk fustian to me” and “he was wearing a driving coat with 16 capes” (!!!?? what). Maybe really I need to do a Regency Comic. OMG A REGENCY COMIC *2024 goals*
The online dictionary defines “fustian”:
pompous or pretentious speech or writing.
Perhaps I WILL talk a bit more fustian in 2024.
Thank you for reading The Repository in 2023. Wishing you all a good holiday, and a happy New Year.
Love from Tor x
Cheers to 202fourustian!
Defo yes to a fustian foray! 😃😃😃
